Hi all,
Well, I'm disappointed in the infoplease sight now. It use to be reallyeasy to look up a word in the dictionary on it, but now they made it a bit harder, and the sight hangs and takes forever to load and it makes jaws sluggish. You use to be able to go to the dictionary link separately, and type your word in, and it would have a link to the word, now it has too many this equals that, and too many lists, and it takes forever for the page to load. It would still be a good sight for people if it weren't for all that. it has an encyclopaedia, an almanac and an atlas as well as a dictionary, and it has a thesaurus, but it's gotten harder to navigate. Oh well, there goes a good dictionary sight.

Hi Wonderwoman, I've never used or heard of this site before. However, for dictionaries, try www.yourdictionary.com, and for a good encyclopedia, try www.wikipedia.org. Hope this helps! Caitlin
Thanks Caitlin, I'll have to try those sometimes to see what they're like, though I found I don't need an encyclopaedia quite as much as I thought I did, but I thought they'd be interesting. I really needed one when I was in school, but there was no way to get one. My mom got me the comptons encyclopaedia a few years back, but it didn't work well with jaws. I could usually bring up a subject, but it was hard, and jaws wouldn't put the graphic labels in the right place when I tried to label them. I'll have to take a look at those sights sometime. I found out about infoplease in pc world magazine when they had an article on best of the web.

Hope those sites help, Wonderwoman. Wikipedia might seem kind of cluttered at first, it did to me, but it's really not too bad, and it's really easy to find articles. If you want an article on ... um ... Harry Potter, just as an example. Apart from just searching for it on the site, you could go to the URL: http://www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_Potter, where the underscore sign is a space. So you can do that for any subject and hope an article comes up. That's a useful tactic. And then there's the search box. Hope this helps, if you ever need the site. Take care! Caitlin
